Jerry and Ann Walker were
born, raised, and met in
Alabama. Pastor Walker and
his wife were not Christians
when they were first married
and did not attend church. A
local pastor visited the Walkers
while their first baby was in the
hospital. It was through his
concern and witness that
Pastor Walker and Mrs.
Walker begin to attend church
and later were both saved.
Jerry Walker was called to
preach in 1969. He attended
Bible Baptist College in
Springfield, Missouri and
graduated in 1972 with a
Graduate degree in Theology.
In June of 1973, Pastor Walker and Mrs. Walker moved to Milton, Florida
and started Stewart Street Baptist Church. In 1979, Bro. Walker received a
Bachelor and Master’s degree form Covington Bible Institute in religious
education. Later that year, he started Stewart Street Baptist Christian
School. In 1986, the church and school were relocated and changed their
names to West Florida Baptist Church and West Florida Baptist Academy.
Recently Pastor Walker spoke at the commencement exercise of the 25th
anniversary of the school.
The Pastor of Oak Level Baptist Church
|
Pastor Walker and family moved to Houston,
Texas in 1989. He became pastor of Westside
Baptist Church. He pastored at Westside for four
years before moving to Winston-Salem, North
Carolina in 1993.
In November of 1994, Bro. Walker became the pastor of Oak Level
Baptist Church. Pastor Walker and Mrs. Walker have seen Oak Level
grow from the eighteen in attendance on that first Sunday to over two
hundred in attendance. In 2000, Bro. Walker felt led of the Lord to start
the Oak Level Baptist Academy.
Since Pastor Jerry Walker and Mrs. Ann Walker have
come to Oak Level, the Lord has tremendously blessed the
ministry. Oak Level Baptist has purchased 32 acres, built
a multi-purpose gymnasium and fellowship building, started
a school, acquired the Malachi Boys Home, and have been
involved in many other exciting ventures since the Lord
brought the Walkers to this ministry.
